HCC Digital & Information Technology Center of Excellence receives prestigious national designation
After 18 long months of submitting documentation, building a website, upgrading content, and aligning curriculum with industry new competencies requirements, focusing on the student experience, and working with an assigned mentor, HCC has now been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense 2-Year (CAE2Y) Education for the Cybersecurity program. Certain jobs in demand today might not exist 10 years from now. Technology is growing and evolving so fast, students need to prepare for jobs that have yet to be invented. Houston Community College Governors Merit STEM Summer Program students did just that. They spent the day building and programming Lego robots. By learning how robots are built and programmed, students learn the basic language that current technology is built upon and its potential growth.

Blind student sees creative writing in future thanks to HCC professor

The difficulties of having a premature baby and struggling to pay for the medical bills are harsh realities for many families nationwide. Houston Community College Southwest raised money to help the March of Dimes fund research and programs for premature babies. Each campus contributed to the fundraising effort, surpassing the initial goal of $5,000 to reach $7,832.63 for the worthwhile charity.

The early morning rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the hundreds of folks who attended the Fort Bend County YMCA Healthy Kids day. Houston Community College student volunteers acted as parking attendants, managed the bounce houses and assisted with the organizations that came out to participate in the free community event.
